Great Falls

This gem is only 15 miles from the Nation’s Capital.  At Great Falls, the Potomac River builds up speed and force as it falls over a series of steep, jagged rocks and flows through the narrow Mather Gorge. A series of boardwalks leads visitors over boulders and rushing waters to an overlook of the spectacular falls.  Oftentimes kayakers can be seen running the rapids.
