Everglades

An Endless “River of Grass” nourishes an abounding variety of life.  At 1.5 million acres, it is the third largest National Park in the contiguous United States, and is one of the world’s premier wild places.  This fragile world hangs in a delicate balance between man and nature.

We had some amazing up-close and personal views of the abundant wildlife.  Jim photographed an anhinga spearing, playing with, and eventually swallowing a fish that looked way too big for it’s throat.  We biked along the Shark Valley trail alongside alligators.  And we saw (very briefly) a manatee and got a few photographs of an endangered crocodile at Flamingo.
