A paddler’s paradise, Kejimkujik National Park offers some of the best paddling in Atlantic Canada. Kejimkujik inland contains 46 lakes and ponds and more than 30 streams and rivers where one can canoe or kayak along the waterways where the Mi’kmaq paddled for thousands of years. We rented a canoe at Jake’s Landing and enjoyed a serene paddle up the Mersey River and then back into Kejimkujik Lake.
We had a beautiful campsite, in fact, we had the whole campground to ourselves. Keji is designated as a Dark Sky preserve, and on a clear night, Kejimkujik’s dreamy dome reveals a cavalcade of thousands of stars. We walked in the dark along a path lined with eerie red lights to the night sky observation deck which is a circular wooden platform designed for sitting and looking up at the night sky. We enjoyed an incredible view of the Milky Way and thousands of stars, and were treated to the sight of a shooting star streaking across the night sky.
