Pololu Valley

We drove north to explore more of the Big Island. We visited Pu’ukohola Heiau, the ruins of an ancient fortress used by the Hawaiians.  Next stop was at Lapakahi State Historical POark, where more than six centuries ago, Hawaiians lived in this seaside village where they launched canoes to fish the abundant seas.  The beach was a beautiful contrast of black lava and white coral.
